Situated in the central borders and built in 1872 as a dower house for the Duchess of Sutherland, Whitehouse Country House is situated in an outstanding location with panoramic views of the River Tweed valley and the rolling Scottish Borders countryside.

Roger and Angela Tyrer have been welcoming guests to Whitehouse for over 20 years. Roger is a passionate fly fisherman and keen game shot; he is a source of much local sporting knowledge. Whilst Angela is an enthusiastic cook and enjoys horse riding.

Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, log fires and stylish home cooked dinners.

Special Offers

Spring Offer
From May 17th - June 18th we can offer guests at Whitehouse a tour around Mertoun House to view the private collection of the Duke of Sutherland. The tours are organised by the National Galleries of Scotland.

A one hour guided tour, available Monday - Friday during the above dates. Mertoun House is not otherwise open to the general public.

Mertoun gardens are open April to September.

For that special private party or event, Whitehouse is available on an exclusive basis.
Rates per day for exclusive use £300 plus catering charge per head.

All 3  bedrooms are spacious and offer fabulous views, digital TV, tea and coffee making facilities, en suite bath and shower. Also huge towels, facecloths and fluffy bathrobes and Gilchrist and Soames complimentary toiletries.

Blue Room
Superking bed (6'6") with spacious bath and shower en suite. This can be made into 2 beds 3' 3" x 6' 6" if desired.

Gold Room
Supertwin 2 double beds (4'6" each) with large en suite bathroom and shower.

Red Room
Supertwin 2 double beds (4'6" each) with spacious bathroom and shower en suite.

All beds have egyptian cotton sheets and oversized duvets (blankets are available if you prefer).
