Drumlanrig Castle

Three Day Itinerary

Day 1 - Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve incorporating the Falls of Clyde

Park your car in the car park above New Lanark. Walk down the hill and along the gorge.
You can walk as far as Bonnington Linn, or have a shorter walk to Corra Linn.
Lunch in New Lanark at the cafe (simple soups, tea etc.)
New Lanark World Heritage Site is a restored 18th century cotton mill and village lying in the spectacular gorge of the River Clyde.

Dinner:  Fifty-Five Restaurant in Biggar High Street.

Day 2 - Dawyck Botanic Garden

(closed in December and January)
About 11 miles from Cormiston Farm B&B. Drive via Broughton for magnificent views of the Tweed Valley.
Dawyck garden has one of the world's finest collections of trees. 
There is also a newly opened visitor's centre with various exhibitions.

Visit Peebles - about 8 miles North East of Dawyck Botanic Garden.
The Royal Burgh of Peebles is on the River Tweed and has a fine high street.

Dinner: The Old Bakehouse Bistro & Grill, Main Street, West Linton

Day 3 - Drumlanrig Castle

The house is open from April to August only; grounds and estate from April to September - check opening times.  Drumlanrig Castle lies within the 120,000 acre Queensberry Estate in Dumfries and Galloway. Beautiful gardens surround the magnificent house completed in 1691. There are woodland walks, cycle routes and mountain bike trails. It is about one hour by car from Cormiston Farm B&B.

Lunch in the Tea Room or a snack in the Stable Yard.
